YIN & YANG YOGA
Balance is everything. Starting your journey as a yoga teacher with a strong and grounded foundation in the applications of both yin and yang style yoga, will provide you with confidence, impeccable insight and understanding into the world of movement and stillness. You’ll learn how to practice and teach with integrity, confidence, awareness and inspiration.
Yin Yoga is a passive therapeutic traction of connective tissue which stimulates a powerful phase change in our tissues, providing the body with a deep healing soak down to the joints, ligaments, bones and fascia. Yin application is specific and skilled, requiring an intelligent understanding of the body’s tissues, skeletal structure and the vast range of variability between each one of us. Learning about Yin provides you with the tools to teach yoga in a world out of balance.
Through the application of Vinyasa (Modified Ashtanga, Rocket and Mandala inspired sequences) you’ll learn how to stimulate energy, strength, stretch and full body health through a holistic and stimulating practice of movement and breath. Our breathing offers us a unique connection to the push and pull of energy within and around us. Exploring this connection through movement can be stimulating, cleansing and powerfully enriching. Vinyasa yoga is creative and exciting. You’ll learn how to teach sequences mindfully, safely and appropriate to your audience from dynamic to slow-flowing classes.
HOW LONG DOES THE PROGRAMME LAST?
The programme runs over 9 months and delivered through 9 full weekends. 100% attendance at all sessions is required to qualify for 200 hours teacher training.
(Please see dates above.)
The course will take place at Rooted In Yoga apartment studio, in central Rochester – 5mins walk from Rochester Train Station. A car park is close by, off road parking is limited.
You will have use of the apartment’s kitchen over the training duration or the town centre is less than 5min walk away. Rochester High Street is full of cafes, restaurants and lovely walking spaces for a breath of air and rest at lunchtime.
HOW IS THE COURSE MATERIAL DELIVERED?
Teaching methods include: lectures, experiential classes, small and large group work, practice teaching time and individual homework and exercises to encourage in depth learning and discovery.
HOW MUCH ASSESSMENT WORK IS THERE?
The Rooted In Yoga 200 hr YTT is a combination of continuous assessment, practical and written examinations. After each module (weekend), there will be a small amount of set reading and written work to complete over the month to ensure you are prepared for the module ahead and develop confidence with each subject studied.
Towards the end of your training, 3 practice observations will need to be completed, an anatomy assessment and practice teaching exam. All of which you will be thoroughly prepared and ready for!
HOW MUCH PRACTICE WILL I BE EXPECTED TO DO THROUGHOUT THE COURSE?
You will be given sequences to learn, so you can practice them and feel them in your body. I recommend that you begin self-practice with these and attend regular classes (a minimum of 2x per week) with a qualified teacher. In addition, it is strongly recommended that you begin self-practice at home. This will enable you to experiment creatively, question and work toward integrating what you have learnt in class. Ultimately, this training is about you discovering your own understanding of yoga and teaching from your personal experience. To do this effectively requires self-practice, contemplation, meditation, acquired knowledge and experience.
As a requirement of the training students must attend a minimum 20 hours of taught classes over the 9 months. 100% attendance at all 9 weekends is also required.
